Prevention is Preferable To a Cure

Good nutrition and stress management also support optimal health and offer preventative measures. 

Follow these five golden rules to maintain optimum health.

Practical tip No. 1:


Proper stretching

  • Active Isolated Stretching - in addition to increasing flexibility, it improves circulation and lymph flow. This helps decrease lymphedema. 
  • Passive Isolated Stretching - especially useful when included in the medical massage session to help stabilize the re-alignment of the soft tissue layers. 
  • Improves and maintains a healthy range of motion and pain-free living. 
  • Prevents osteoarthritis
  • Can be sprinkled into small snippets of time in your busy day.
  • Maintains supple movements enhancing the appearance of youthfulness and prepares.


Practical tip No. 2:


Body mechanics for all ages

  • The spine is more susceptible to injury in the morning after one first wakes up. 
  • Sleeping with the spine well supported helps prevent injuries. 
  • Keep joints long and strong during work and play. 
  • Avoid lifting while twisting (grocery shopping, taking items out of lower cabinets).
  • Stay strong in your core (i.e. pretend like you're dancing with the vacuum sweeper. 
  • Avoid sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Sitting is the new smoking in terms of cancer. Standing adversely impacts heart health. Desk elevators allow variations. Sit 20 minutes; stand 10 minutes alternating positions prevent pain and stagnation.
